Welcome to Inside Cricket, a blog designed to host analysis of, commentary on and discussion about South African cricket.

So, what is Inside Cricket all about? Well, it strikes me that the quality of cricket analysis in South Africa is somewhat lacking, particularly when it comes to statistics. We simply don’t do proper analysis. And there are so many insights we miss as a result. With the advent of Cricinfo – quite simply the best cricket website in the world – and its unrivalled stats database – Statsguru – it is possible to generate statistics on almost anything cricket.
It is my intention to provide the occassional such analysis here. This is just a hobby of mine, so don’t expect a regular flow of analysis, but now and then I will aim to provide a new insight or analysis using the sorts of tools Cricinfo provides. Likewise, I shall aim to produce the odd defence of South African cricket and its cricketers – often attacked for the wrong reasons.
Be warned, I have a deep admiration for Jacques Kallis, so he will no doubt feature prominently. The man can do no wrong as far as I am concerned.
